EDUCATION
The artist is self taught but has availed himself of various workshops and individual college courses to expedite his artistic growth. He has studied with Robert Bateman in his Master Wildlife Painting Workshop, painted with world renown wildlife artist John Seerey-Lester, attended a workshop with Daniel Greene plus others to further his knowledge of art.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Many hours are spent observing, sketching, and photographing nature in preparation for a painting. His special interest is in the natural reserves where the artist sees a definite decline in the ecosystem and, therefore, feels it is necessary that visual documentation be used in an attempt to bring these critical losses to the public's attention.
The artist uses the traditional English method of watercolor painting, building up thin washes of delicately mixed colors, one over the other, until he accomplishes the desired value and color intensity for the painting.
His work has been likened to that of John J. Audubon, in that both artists work 'up close and personal'.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"As a wildlife artist, I have an obligation to present paintings of nature in a fashion that will generate an interest for the viewer, to the extent that the casual observer will become more concerned with preserving wildlife and their habitats rather than destroying those ecosystems. Art is the best vehicle to introduce the public to the wild habitats that they would otherwise not have access. I make an attempt to take the viewer into this world with my paintings and to open a visual dialogue between these two diverse environments."
